This sculpture by prolific, and San Francisco darling, Benny Bufano was originally made for the Treasure Island Golden Gate Exposition of 1939.

    I think one would need to know context, as to why a penguin needed to make an appearance at the Golden Gate Exposition.

    I do love his sculptures! I recognize his style now even before I read who you say is the sculptor:)
