6th Street and Jessie

This series of murals is by Lango.  Lango has been in this website many times, and I am a big fan of his work.  You can more of his work here.  This is a rough part of town, so I am not sure how or why this wall was chosen, but they are really just gorgeous.

SOMA – San Francisco
Mary at Howard Streets
This piece was done by Lango, a tattoo artist here in San Francisco.  I have tried to contact him to ask him about this mural, but according to a friend of his I met the other day he is extremely shy.  I respect that, and figure his work speaks for him, it is really spectacular.

This is on the Howard side of the building.
This is also by Lango.  It was commissioned by an auto repair shop.  I had fun chatting with the guys who own the shop.  They were rather fond of their piece of art work.  This is at 4 Shotwell at 14th Street.

Haight Ashbury

There are murals everywhere in the Haight, these are just a few of the better ones.

 Haight and Masonic by Lango

Jimi Hendrix by an unknown artist.  This mural is at 1524 Haight Street, the home of Jimi Hendrix when he lived in San Francisco.  It is now Ashbury Tobacco Center.

This doll is on the Bettie Page Clothing Store at 1529 Haight. (Bettie Page was one of America’s great pin-up girls).  This mural was painted by Amanda Lynn.   Amanda studied at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art with an Illustration major. After school, she worked independently and freelances on many mural productions and theater set paintings.

If you are interested in learning more about Bettie Page – There is a wonderful article about her life and art here.
